Abstract

It is a problem, especially in rural areas. Since the 1960’s, census data has shown higher rates of it. Nebraska is no exception. In 2020, twenty counties had rates higher than the national average. According to UNO’s Center for Public Affairs research, all of them have fewer than 40,000 people. Find out what that means for the families and their communities; and, more importantly, what is being done to break the cycle.
