Abstract

Oltracuidansa is an electronic work for contrabass and eight channel tape, and this CD represents the work in a format adapted to consumer-level 44.lk/1 6-bit stereo playback. Normally, eight channel works are diffused with higher sampling rates and bit depth over eight speakers arranged in a circle around the listeners, but it is not uncommon to adapt eight-channel works to stereo audio CD in order to reach a larger audience and to preserve the work in a more sustainable format. If properly engineered, the dramatic sense of three dimensional space in eight-channel format can be equated in a stereo field.
