Abstract

A frequent criticism of our schools today is that much time has been given to English in the school program, much money has been spent on it, and yet the results have been and are most unsatisfactory. High school teachers, college professors, and the general public continually express their disappointment as to the results that have been obtained through the formalism that so generally characterized the English program of the past and continues even today.
