Abstract

The induction of an elementary principal to an initial position is a total process. More often than not, the principal becomes responsible for an elementary school without benefit of an internship or serving as an assistant principal. There is little written about the initial year in the position. The most comprehensive description of the principal is they study "The Man in the Principal's Office" by Harry Wolcott. A review of this literature reveals a complex if not confounding picture of the position.
