The subject of this thesis is sexual harassment of working women. Sexual harassment is defined for the purposes of this research as "any repeated an unwanted sexual comments, looks, suggestions or physical contact that one finds objectionable or offensive and causes one discomfort on the job or in the classroom." Sexual harassment has been discussed and debated in the popular media since the mid 1970s. It has also become a legal issue and a number of sexual harassment suits have been filed by sexually harassed women.
