Abstract

The school bell commenced ringing again one Monday morning, its tortuous peals signaling the end of our school vacation. Our versification of its cheerless, hopeless rhyme sounded something like this: ‘Ting, ting, ting Come to school, Face the lash! Come! Come! Come! Face the lash!’’ On and on it rang.
