Abstract

Accomplished musicians will often look beyond the canon for their instrument in order to explore other avenues for musical expression. Since World War II, the Electronic Music genre and all of its subgenres have afforded an opportunity for a variety of artists to explore new ideas and sounds. Unfortunately, the results have been mixed, and many recordings have ended their run in music purgatory, the archive. Altered States of Bass, on the other hand, is an Electronic Music CD that could take up permanent residence in one’s disk carousel.
