Providing an overview of the current global water crisis, this book considers the political, economic, scientific, and technological issues related to it. After general discussion chapters on the "soft" path, globalization, privatization, the measurement of well-being, climate change, water management, and dams, the book features charts and tables comparing the water supply, safety, sanitation, and pricing in various countries. Also included are brief reports on the search for water in space, water-related conflict, and related issues.
