Abstract
As the administrators of the University of California and the California State University systems begin to implement the Human Corps mandate into their curricula, no doubt many are looking to Humboldt State University in Arcata where the Youth Educational Services program (YES) is celebrating its 20th anniversary year as an example of effective student-involved community service. Since the organization's inception in 1968, approximately 6,000 students have given over 600,000 volunteer service hours to the campus and the community.
