Abstract
The intention of Conspire Music and Arts Festival was to start, manage and host a unique, collaboration-based music festival. This festival showcased and realized the participating artists’ ability to work with and, most importantly, create music and art with other artists. Centered on the conception of new work, the festival presented original music that had been composed and arranged within a week’s time. The festival did not only feature musicians, but visual artists added another dimension to the experience, unifying all art forms under one roof.
The goal of Conspire Music and Arts Festival was to develop the arts community in Nebraska by providing an event that forces dialogue, discussion, network building, and the generation of new art through unconventional collaboration. Music and art foster a sense of belonging for members of society, bringing together individuals who may otherwise never meet. This festival allowed unlikely artists to work together and expand their musical abilities through spontaneous collaboration. Artists were asked to step outside of their comfort zones to usher in a new sense of understanding about their art form. There is nothing like this in Nebraska.
