Abstract
"The National Safety Council reported that in 1949 one and a quarter million accidents occurred In the 16 to 24 age group". That statement was made by Courson in his article on insurance protection for students. He summarized the article by asserting, "I am convinced that some type of insurance protection is needed by the student of the college". His conviction was typical of the great interest in health and accident insurance that followed the Second World War. The veterans may have stimulated that interest because of their being accustomed to full medical services.
