Abstract
Spelling is one of the principal components of any elementary school program of language arts or English. Educationally, as well as socially, poor spelling is generally considered a sign of illiteracy. Whether this is justified or not, people do raise conclusions about a person's education and intelligence on the evidence of his/her spelling abilities. Therefore, strong spelling programs continue to be desired as an integral part of an elementary school curriculum.
