Abstract
This thesis is written by one of three first-year mathematics teachers exploring the beginning of a career in education. As a group we met regularly to discuss our progress, share research, and at times collaborate in writing portions of this study. Parallel to this first-year experience is participation in a graduate program, CADRE (Career Advancement and Development for Recruits and Experienced Teachers).
