Abstract
Society will continue to undergo many demographic changes in the years ahead. The United States is facing a new demographic shock wave. For the first time, there are more Americans over 65 than under 18. It is no secret that the demographic portrait of the United States is slowly shifting patterns in the nation's class and family structures, in its immigration flow, in its work force, social support systems, and in its regional concentration of people.
