Abstract
The Millard Public School District in Omaha, Nebraska offers a Montessori alternative program which is based upon the teachings and materials introduced by Maria Montessori in the late 1800’s. The Montessori method is a balance of structure and freedom that gives children a strong basis in their formative years for developing learning skills that will take them into later education and adulthood (Standing, 1962).
