Abstract
With the beginning of the 1983-84 school year, the Science Department Faculty at Central Junior High in Millard, Nebraska, initiated a new "Investigative Science" course. The Investigative Science course was designed to challenge students who possessed high interest in science, exhibited creativity, and demonstrated intellectual capacity. However, it was possible for a student with very high achievement scores not to be selected if he had little interest in science. During the selection process only a limited number of students .were chosen and although many students achieved the minimum requirements, only the brightest had the opportunity to take the new course.
