Abstract
THE CULTURAL LIFE OF DAVID CITY: 1874-1887. The historic prologue to the establishment of an opera house in David City, Nebraska, reveals much about the spirit and character of the inhabitants and community in which it was located. The events which preceded the founding of the community of David City and its opera house formed a colorful panorama of the American experience in frontier settlement on the Great Plains.
