Abstract

The reader of literary criticism soon discovers that there exists a multiplicity of critical terms. While some terminology the critics employ entertain vague meanings at best or have different applications by various writers, and systematic analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of a poem requires a critical structure specifically devised for that purpose in which the critical terms are defined precisely and in which the critical assumptions used for analysis, evaluation, and interpretation are stated clearly.
