Abstract
Hughes Mearnes, in his book, discusses briefly, the purpose of teaching creative writing. In his own words, “We are not preparing primarily to make poets or even to make writers; our purpose has been simply to set up such an environment as might extend further, the possibilities in creative writing of pupils of high school age.”
