Abstract
Public high schools do not consistently use one method to measure student dropout rates. The purpose of this study was to identify differences in the reasons given by principals and district office administrators from various size public high school/districts which describe willingness or unwillingness to adopt the cohort method as the standard measure of student dropout rates.
