Abstract
Facing Loss: an exploration of attitudes of hospice patients nearing the end-of-life is a qualitative study focusing on analyzing current hospice patients' self-identify through arts-based research, specifically portraiture and drawing. This project will seek to facilitate meaningful conversations about end-of-life treatment between individuals. Additionally, this project will open mutual avenues of understanding between hospice patients and their families through the creation and reflection on the resultant artworks. The drawings will act as a unique way to challenge participants' views of themselves and offer a tangible record of the interaction between the participants and the artist.
