Abstract

Given the varying policies and financial pressure on higher education institutions, this paper will examine the feasibility and impact of free higher education on a country’s budget and economy. Specifically, this paper will aim to answer the following questions: What are the implications of providing free education? Is it feasible? For how long? For who? This paper will answer such questions by studying the countries that offer free higher education such as the United Kingdom, Finland, Norway, and Germany. Additionally, the paper will infer if such programs that exist in the listed countries can be implemented in the US and the result of doing such.
