Abstract
This presentation consists of an event proposal for a variety of organizations, but was originally designed for academic libraries due to their clients of the underrepresented new adult population. Safety and emergency preparedness is a subject that should have a stronger focus post-pandemic, especially for adults who are newly on their own. To combat this issue, a monthly speaker series highlighting the dangers of the community and how to prepare for them on an individual level should be held. Hosted by an emergency management professional, participants will learn about various areas of preparation and mitigation that they can implement in their lives to be able to foster a more resilient community. Topics for this series include but are not limited to: how to create an emergency kit for the home, disaster plans for the household, assisting individuals who may be more at risk, and more. Another area of this will include legal information such as information on different homeowners and life insurance plans, creating a will, and protecting important documents and other sensitive materials.
Scheduling
10:45 a.m.-Noon, 1-2:15 p.m., 2:30 -3:45 p.m.
