Abstract
Introduction:
Patient monitoring is a critical aspect of healthcare delivery, particularly in nursing centers. A comprehensive resident monitoring dashboard can enable simultaneous monitoring of all residents from a centralized location, leading to improved patient care and better resource management. This report presents the findings of a focus group study conducted at a renowned skilled nursing center to gather insights on healthcare monitoring dashboards' usage and impact on nursing centers.
Methods:
The focus group study involved participants from the skilled nursing center who were healthcare professionals with experience in monitoring patients' health. Participants were asked questions regarding typical health concerns, activities, and other health data that are usually monitored daily. Participants were also shown examples of monitoring dashboards that display and track patient health data to understand their likes and dislikes about existing products.
Results:
The participants identified several key parameters that require monitoring, including blood pressure, pulse, glucose levels, and medication administration. Additionally, participants emphasized the importance of customizing thresholds for vital signs to detect changes in a patient's condition promptly. Participants found that the NAPIER dashboard was the most effective dashboard for skilled labor due to its ability to map required vitals, define customization thresholds, track patient vitals, and manage individual patients.
Discussion:
The findings of this study suggest that healthcare professionals prioritize certain parameters while monitoring patients' health, such as vital signs and medication administration. Customization of thresholds is also crucial in identifying changes in a patient's condition early on. The NAPIER dashboard is an effective tool for skilled labor as it allows for personalized monitoring and management of individual patients. The focus group study highlights the importance of integrated patient monitoring dashboards in nursing centers to improve patient care and resource management.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the focus group study provides valuable insights into healthcare monitoring dashboards' usage and impact on nursing centers. The study's findings suggest that integrated patient monitoring dashboards, such as the NAPIER dashboard, can help healthcare professionals monitor patients more effectively, leading to improved patient care and better resource management. The study's results can inform the development and implementation of comprehensive resident monitoring dashboards in nursing centers, enhancing the quality of patient care.
