Abstract

The Howler Project was created with a vision for a less lonely world. It is anchored in the belief that the arts are a universal language and storytelling, a bridge to human connection. We experience so much of what we feel, see, and hear alone, internalizing our joy and pain. Stories allow us to explore meaning, to see and be seen.

A Graduate Research and Creative Activity grant contributed to the development of the project's first phase—launching a website with four essential components: Howler Daily, a safe space for sharing daily stories from submitters across the world (with no cost to submit); Hymn & Howl, a quarterly interactive magazine; Storyteller Spotlight, a celebratory column featuring favorite storytellers; and Music for Humans, a curated playlist to soothe and inspire. Phase two of the project "feeds" the storyteller. The integration of arts and wellness offers a variety of free workshops and classes for inner and outer discoveries in physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and community dimensions. Featured topics include the mind/body connection, spirituality and meaning-making, sustainability, transformative social change, regenerative leadership, and experiential expression.
