Abstract

Venezuelan migration has been one of Latin America's more significant migratory movements in the last decade. One of the reasons why Venezuelans leave the country is due to a political, social, and economic crisis. An essential characteristic of the migratory movement is that most leave Venezuela to reside within the region. Latin American governments have had different ways of facing the situation, some with open migratory policies and others with restrictions. However, in recent years, the majority have tightened their immigration policies. The political position of receiving countries and the media have influenced people's attitudes toward Venezuelan immigrants, a topic that has not been researched enough. This research will use the data from the AmericasBarometer 2018/19 to compare the attitudes of Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Ecuador toward Venezuelan immigrants.
