Abstract
This presentation addresses the large amount of textile waste, primarily in the United States, that occurs every year. Consequently, there is a large need to address sustainable textile recycling or reuse. I will discuss common factors that lead to textile waste, how it can be addressed through entrepreneurship, as well as what market exists for resale materials. This potential business can assist in determining where certain materials should be donated, upcycled, and resold based on the condition of the item. For consumers, it can reduce clutter in both their homes and local landfills, and make sure their once treasured belongings don't go to waste.
