Abstract
10,000 Years of Happiness is a poetry collection created as a senior thesis project for Writer’s Workshop. The poetry within this collection explores themes of family dynamics, identity, and grief from the perspective of a queer, Asian American man from the Midwest. The performance will be delivered in a traditional reading style and is a product of the combined effort of student, Luke Koesters, and faculty advisor, Dr. Todd Robinson, both of whom had spent the previous year researching, writing, revising, and submitting work to be peer reviewed literary journals. Some of these poems have been accepted and have appeared in or are forthcoming in future issues of Pinhole Poetry, Cleaver Magazine, Main Street Rag, Oakland Arts Review, and Sink Hollow.
