Abstract
Saunders County, Nebraska, is located in the east-central part of the state and is bounded on the north and east by the Platte River. The country has an area of seven hundred fifty six square miles and contains one hundred ten administrative units or school districts. There has been no change in the organization of the school districts since 1919. From that time to the present time the road conditions and means of transportation have improved to a large degree. In the county there are eighty seven one-room or two-room elementary schools in operation, thirteen districts contracted for instruction, and ten districts which maintained both elementary and high schools. School district reorganization has been carried out in other states and in other counties in Nebraska and has been successful in reducing the number of districts. It is assumed that it would be possible to do the same in Saunders County.
