Abstract
The purpose of my study was to explore the influence of rites of passage, critical incidents and the unique school milieu during my first year as a fourth grade teacher within a suburban elementary school. I examined and reflected upon the previous experiences and perceptions of three first year teahers who had undertaken this same project.
