Abstract
Educating the severely and profoundly retarded student is the most challenging and controversial area in the field of Special Education today. Noonan, Brown, Mulligan, and Rattig (1982) state that the implications of the Levin v. New Jersey Department of Institutions (1980) ruling against educability (of severely retarded individuals) are frightening.
