Abstract
Introduction: Algae are present in almost every soil throughout the world, with the Chlorophytes and Cyanophytes the most common (Bold, 1970). Algal abundance and diversity in any particular soil seems to be dependent on, and respond to, changes in light, moisture, pH, and nutrients and substrate (Shields and Durrell, 1964).
