Abstract

This paper is a record of my experience as the director of Kennedy's Children, which opened on March 1978 and ran through 12 March in the Studio Theatre of the University Of Nebraska at Omaha undertaken in partial fulfillment of the Masters degree in Dramatic Arts. The first section of this paper concerns the formal research into the background of Robert Patrick (b. 1937-), the playwright and the production history of his play, Kennedy’s Children, which first opened in New York on 3 November 1975. The second section consists of 1) an explanation of the circumstances surrounding my undertaking this project, 2) a chronology of my directorial decisions throughout .the rehearsal from February 1 to March 3, and 3) a discussion of the acting problems encountered and solutions employed by the director in the course of the production.
