Abstract
Though long interested in German studies, I must admit that until April of 1963 I had never heard of Fridrick Naumann. The subject of his career was assigned to me as a term paper by Dr. Raymond Smith, Jr. I am most grateful to Dr. Smith for introducing me to the topic. Yet, it was Dr. A Stanley Trickett who guilded me through the long arduous task of research and writing of the thesis and his sure hand made the completion of my goal possible. I would note, however, that he is not to be associated with the imperfections to be found.
